What is a Covert Schizoid?

Covert schizoid personality, also called secret schizoid personality, is a subtype of schizoid personality characterized by introversion, social and emotional detachment, and tendency for hypersensitivity and overstimulation. These individuals face the schizoid dilemma, torn between their desire for emotional connection and their need for independence and isolation. Anhedonia is often an outcome of such tension and it results in self-disconnect and difficulty with finding joy. While appearing normal on the surface through masking, they struggle with deep emotional disconnect, making forming meaningful relationships challenging.
