Why Don't I Like Anything?

An Anhedonia Guide for Existential Loners

If you’ve ever felt emotionally numb - as if life is happening behind glass - you’re not alone.

Anhedonia is the name for this state of flatness, when joy, motivation, or even a sense of meaning seems out of reach.

This short guide is for existential loners, schizoid-leaning, and emotionally detached people who want to understand what’s happening, and take small steps toward reconnecting with life.

What is Anhedonia?

What’s Inside

In this guide, I explore:

  • Why anhedonia happens, and how the reward system breaks down.

  • The schizoid dilemma - the push and pull between connection and isolation.

  • How certain beliefs about yourself and others quietly block joy.

  • 3 practical steps that can help you begin to feel again - slowly, safely, on your own terms.

Why I Wrote This

Most advice on numbness and motivation feels shallow, or it pathologises difference.
I wanted to write something that takes these struggles seriously - without therapy-speak, clichés, or false positivity.

Mind Mastery is a space for people who feel different: existential loners, outsiders, and schizoid-leaning individuals. This guide is part of that work.
